Chinese New Year

It's the Year of the Tiger!

Feb. 14th marked the beginning of the Year of the Tiger. Due to the other obvious holiday which falls on the 14th, we celebrated Chinese New Year on the 13th. Chinese New Year is a movable holiday, falling in January or February. To the Chinese people, it's the equivalent of Christmas. In other words, it's a REALLY big deal in China. We ate in the HyVee dining room, wearing red for CNY while surrounded by others wearing red for Valentine's Day. After dinner, our adoption group headed to a private room for CNY festivities. Cami was the youngest Chinese child present. Many of the girls wore traditional Chinese silk dresses. We opted for a washing-machine friendly velvet Panda shirt instead. The kids had a great time doing crafts, learning more about the Chinese culture, and just running around. Pics in the next post.

Three's a Crowd

Found out something interesting about hotels that won't let a family of five book a regular room. We've run into this problem and I know I'm not alone. If you've ever had troubles with this, you need to check out my story on www.minnemom.com. Minnemom is a blog published by a woman in (surprise!) Minnesota. Her target audience is families with children who like to travel. The title of my story is "Three's a Crowd."
